"Giants" (DAZN)
Overview
Fu Films served as offline editor on a documentary series following the Yomiuri Giants during the 2019 season.
While the series primarily centred on on-field performance, this episode shifted focus away from gameplay to explore the unseen infrastructure surrounding match days — examining the dedication, coordination, and personal commitment of those supporting the team off the field, including fan club members, cheerleaders, and stadium vendors.
Initially regarded as the most conceptually challenging episode in development, the final cut reframed the narrative around emotional stakes and collective responsibility, resulting in one of the most fully realised episodes in the series.
Excerpt from episode 5 (password DAZN):
The Giants baseball team are at a pivotal moment in the season, with the game riding on a crucial innings. Everyone in the stadium is nervous with anticipation, from the cheerleaders, to the fans and even the beer girls - all willing the team to win...

Post-Production
Fu Films led the offline editorial process for the episode, shaping structure and narrative emphasis around character-driven storytelling rather than match coverage.
The edit required balancing multiple perspectives while constructing a cohesive arc that sustained momentum without reliance on on-field action. Particular attention was given to pacing, cross-cutting, and the gradual build of emotional investment across disparate contributors to the team ecosystem.
